Water Softener is one kind of water treatment plant that can reduce water hardness and make it soft. Its working principle is using sodium cation exchange resin to eliminate calcium and magnesium ions in the water. It is mainly used to reduce raw water hardness and avoid carbonates fouling in the pipeline, container, and boiler, etc. The effectiveness reaches 99%.
Why we need a water softener?
Because hard water contains a lot of calcium and magnesium ions and they are the main components of the scale. If we drink hard water for a long time, it will cause great problems for our health, so we need to use the Water Softener in water treatment.
Backwash:
Regeneration starts with a backwash cycle where the valve reverses water flow in the tank and flushes the tank of debris. The debris is then eliminated out the drain.
Recharge or Regeneration:
In the Recharge cycle the salty brine solution is pumped into the mineral tank. The highly concentrated salt solution with its positive electrical charge is attracted to the negatively charged plastic beads and forces the magnesium and calcium off the beads. The salt or potassium by itself is not positively charged enough to displace the magnesium or calcium in normal concentrations, but in the highly concentrated solution of brine, it is strong enough to force the calcium and magnesium off. The excess magnesium and calcium rich salty water is then flushed out of the tank and down the drain.
Rinse:
The tank is then filled and rinsed with water and the process repeats itself. The beads are now coated with salt. As the calcium and magnesium from the hard water are attracted to the plastic beads, the salt, now in much diluted quantities and smaller electrical charge, is forced off the beads and is suspended in the softened water.

1. Raw water pump-- provide the pressure to quartz sand filter/active carbon filter.
2. Multi-medium filter--get rid of turbidity, suspended matter, organic matter, colloid, ect.
3. Active Carbon filter--Remove the color, free chloride, organic matter, harmful matter, ect.
4. Softener--exchange "ions" of calcium and magnesium with the most common and easiest method.
5. Micron filter--prevent large particles, bacteria, viruses into RO membrane, accuracy is 5um,
6. High pressure pump--Provide the high pressure to RO membrane ro.
7.RO system-- main part of the plant. The RO membrane's desalting rate can reach 99%, removing over 99% ions
